Moon When Leaves Fall

frost-moon2October 27 rolls in the final harvest moon for the growing season. In Native American folklore this is called the Moon When Leaves Fall. Massachusetts has had its first freeze marking the official end to the growing season. The full moon will be in earthy Taurus. Full Moons signal the culmination of events and emotions. This is a time to gather the last of the fruits and vegetables from the garden. A time to gather falling leaves laying a carpet of crimson, bittersweet orange and yellow on the cold grass. A moment to look at what is done, what is over and what is to be laid to rest. The trees, shrubs and perennials turn inward. They pull their vital energy in and sink to their roots. The fall season is at it’s most glorious.
